The Andrean girls’ soccer team won their fifth sectional title and third regional title; both being their first since 2004. The girls won with a score of 1-0 against their long time rival, Wheeler High Schools, in sectionals and 3-0 against Boone Grove in regionals to advance to semi-state.
During the sectional championship, the ladies started their game strong by scoring within the first ten minutes. Danielle Tazic scored for the Niners off of a corner kick from Rylee Horn. It was an intense and physical game on both sides, but in the end the Niners prevailed.
The Niners were able to keep constant possession during the regional championship and had many opportunities to score. Hanna Sarosy scored the first goal at 30:18 and later in the game, during the 68th minute, Rylee Horn scored off of her own corner kick. Tessa Wojkovich finished the game by hitting one into upper ninety.
The Niners are overjoyed that they won the Class A Sectional Title and Regional Title and are looking forward to the rest of the tournament. The ladies’ next game is Saturday at Laville against Mishawaka Marian.
